Around 20 minutes after departure from Penzance today, Friday 22nd December, Gry Maritha suffered a mechanical failure and was forced to return to Penzance with just one operable engine. The problem has been identified, but the repair will require the failed engine to be swapped out and replaced, so it is with regret that the crossing scheduled for today has been cancelled.
We are exploring options for transporting the urgent chilled foods across over the weekend, and will provide an update as soon as we can. A further update will be issued once we know when the repair has been finished and the remainder of the items on board can be shipped, but we expect this to be Tuesday 26th or Wednesday 27th December.
Please accept our apologies for the obvious inconvenience that this has caused, and be assured we are doing all that we can to minimise further disruption to the freight service.
