Yesterday, saw the start of the Isles of Scilly Steamship Company trialling a new freight consolidation system as part of their vessel replacement project.
The FlexMax system is an aluminium alloy collar which is placed on either side of a delivered pallet and secured using built-in retractable ratchet straps. Once the collar is secured it allows a second pallet to be placed on top. The trial is exploring options of increasing capacity on both the Gry Maritha and Lyonesse Lady, as well as the replacement vessels currently being designed as part of the vessel replacement project.
