The Isles of Scilly Steamship Group is offering residents of the Isles of Scilly the chance to contribute their views and help shape the future of the Group by joining the Steamship Advisory Board. (SAB)
Islanders are invited to register an interest to join the SAB now, with applications open to permanent residents of the Isles of Scilly.
The SAB will be made up of eight or more members and will act as a forum in which the Group can discuss its services, performance and planned projects, as well as a place to build deeper understanding and trust with service users. Joining the Steamship Advisory Board is also an opportunity for community members to be closer to crucial decision-making processes, to reflect on all aspects of customer experience, and to contribute feedback.
New members will be considered for the SAB annually, with a proportion of the incumbent membership able to stand for reappointment.
The Steamship Advisory Board aims to have amongst its membership a cross section of island residents, which will include regular users of the Group’s various services.
The SAB will be chaired by an Isles of Scilly Steamship Group Director , with a vice chairman chosen by the SAB. It is anticipated that the SAB will meet approximately quarterly, usually on St Mary’s.
Andrew May, of the Isles of Scilly Steamship Group, said: “The Steamship Advisory Board is a great opportunity for the Group and the community to come together and hold honest and open discussions about projects, services, the Group’s performance, and any other issues as they arise. We truly value the feedback and contributions of the islanders who most regularly use our services, and want to ensure they have an even stronger voice in helping to shape decisions and changes that could benefit them, and the wider community, directly.
“I would encourage any island residents who are interested in finding out more to register their interest in the SAB.”
